Since its inception in 1999 the choir has provided Georgetown with an impressive series of concerts of classical works, often involving international artists.
Now entering its 12th season the Georgetown Bach Chorale offers audiences a unique programme of choral, orchestral, chamber and solo performances.
The choir, comprised of 18 auditioned members, focuses on music of the Baroque and Classical periods. In addition to the choral concerts this vibrant organization hosts others during the season, ranging from vocal recitals to chamber and orchestral repertoire.
In keeping with the Baroque style, the ensemble is led from the harpsichord by its music director Ron Greidanus. Although the choir concentrates on the major works of J. S. Bach, the music of Handel, Allegri, Purcell, Byrd, Buxtehude and Mozart are often featured on the programme.
As part of its regular season the Georgetown Bach Chorale presents two concerts, one at Christmas and one in late winter or early spring in the intimate setting of a private home, followed by a reception in keeping with the theme of the evening's programme.
