New York! New York!

After the huge success of The Georgetown Bach Chorale's venture into the land of jazz, it was unanimously agreed that this eclectic bunch of singers should saunter down Broadway one
more time. Favourite jazz standards and Broadway show tunes will be sung by sultry voices as these fine singers strut their stuff backed up by piano, drums, bass, and boas. A marvelous multicourse dinner will be presented to make the evening complete.

Saturday, October 29, 2011, 6:30 pm

Handel's Messiah

Handel's timeless oratorio will be offered four times this autumn by Georgetown's own Baroque choir complete with orchestra led from the harpsichord by its artistic director, Ron Greidanus. Even
though this marvelous work is known for its familiar arias and choruses, there is nothing ordinary about this presentation. The Bach Chorale takes a truly historical approach to Handel's greatest
masterpiece.

Music for Great Cathedrals

Listen to a cappella music heard in the best possible location – the very type of structure which inspired these choral gems. Having a visually breathtaking and audibly stunning structure
like the Croatian Centre is something to treasure. It is unusual for North American choirs to have such an architectural wonder in their backyard! The Chorale will once again perform marvelous
Mass movements and motets of Brumel, Willan, Diepenbrock, Kodaly, Liszt, Bruckner, and Allegri. Returning this year is Dutch- Canadian violinist Edwin Huizinga in a stirring rendition of Bach's
Chaconne in D minor.

Saturday, March 24, 2012, 8 pm

Mozart's Requiem Mass in D minor

About four years ago, Georgetown had the opportunity to hear the Chorale offer a riveting rendition of Mozart's incredible Mass for the dead. As lugubrious as that may sound, this work is hardly dark.
It is a masterpiece filled with dramatic choruses, lyrical solos, and quartets. In addition to this Requiem that would probably waken the dead, pianist and artistic director Ron Greidanus will perform Mozart's Piano Concerto #22 in E flat Major. This work and the Requiem were both used as part of the dramatic soundtrack from Hollywood's depiction of Mozart's life in the film Amadeus.
