The
Georgetown Bach Chorale celebrates a decade of
music-making with an outstanding series of concerts.
The
Chorale was formed ten years ago by a group
of local singers wishing to perform challenging choral music,
beginning with J. S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion.
This
year, the Chorale will come full circle, offering a Good Friday
performance of that same piece.
Under
the direction of
Ron Greidanus
, and often conducted by him from the harpsichord, the Chorale
offers a unique combination of choral, orchestral and solo works
in a variety of settings.
The
group specializes
in Baroque repertoire and is often accompanied by musicians on
period instruments.
The
Chorale will present six concerts for this, its
10th
Anniversary season. Highlights include the first-ever
performance
by a local choir in the breathtaking new Catholic church at the
Croatian Centre in Norval.
As
usual, two concerts will take place in a private home
with
a reception to follow.
The
Bach Chorale will also be guests of the
Caledon
Chamber Series, repeating their performances
of
both the Messiah and
St.
Matthew Passion
for its audiences.
The
Chorale is pleased to be able to present two additional concerts
of Handel's Messiah in Goderich and Stratford.
We
look forward to having you join us
and
help celebrate ten years of incredible growth
and
music-making
